Pushkin “I loved you”

Below is our lesson devoted to the beautiful poem by Alexander Pushkin “I loved you” or in Russian called “Ya vas lyubil” / “Я вас любил”. It is one of my favorite poems so it was recorded as one of the very first videos for our youtube channel. When I thought what kind of videos to create, Pushkin “I loved you” poem was the first thing that came to mind. And many students loved studying it during the lessons, so enjoy the video and see the text in Russian along with pronunciation guide and per word translation into English accomplished as a small project by one of the best students of Prime Language Services, Carol M.

Я вас любил:// любовь еще, / быть может, //
Ya vas lew-beel // lew-bov yesh-shyoh / beet’ mo-zhyet //
I loved you: a love still, perhaps

В душе моей / угасла не совсем;
V doosheh ma-yee / oogas-la nye sav-syem //
In my soul extinguished not quite;

Но пусть / она вас больше // не тревожит; //
Na poost’ / anah vas bol’sheh // nyeh trye-vo-zheet //
But let it no longer alarm you

Я не хочу / печалить вас / ничем. //
Ya nyeh ha-choo / pye-cha-leet’ vas // nee-chyem //
I do not want you to be disturbed by anything

Я вас любил безмолвно, / безнадежно, /
Ya vas lew-beel byez-mol-v-na // byez-na-dyohzh-na //
I loved you silently, hopelessly

То робостью, / то ревностью томим //
Ta ro-bast’ee, // ta ryev-nast’-ee ta-meem //
Now by timidity, now by jealousy tormented

Я вас любил / так / искренно, // так / нежно, //
Ya vas lew-beel / tak // ee-skryen-na // tak / nyezh-na //
I loved you so sincerely, so tenderly

Как / дай вам бог // любимой быть / другим. //
Kak / dai vam Bog // lew-bee-moy beet’ / droo-geem.
May God grant you to be [so] beloved by another.
